From the launch of Discover Crewe to record-breaking events and safety measures, the first year of Crewe BID has made a real impact.

More than 200,000 people have been reached online, over 2,000 followers built in just nine weeks, and families given fresh reasons to spend time in town.

Those achievements took centre stage this week as Crewe BID held its first Annual General Meeting at Everybody Leisure, Crewe Lifestyle Centre. Businesses from the town centre, Nantwich Road and Grand Junction Retail Park came together to hear about progress across the BID’s three themes: creating a better Crewe experience, making the town cleaner, greener and safer, and building stronger business connections.

Chair Graham Saunders told the meeting:
“This first year has shown what’s possible when businesses work together. We’ve launched Discover Crewe, delivered events that brought people into town, and made early progress on safety. Year two will be about building on this momentum and stepping up to even bigger projects.”

The AGM also highlighted the partnerships that have been built during the first year, with Crewe Town Council, Cheshire East Council, Crewe Town Board, One Crewe and Crewe Creates all working alongside the BID to strengthen activity and open up further opportunities.

Project Manager Matt Deeley added:
“We’ve got some fantastic projects lined up that will keep building pride, profile and positivity for Crewe. Crewe-on-Sea this August Bank Holiday will be a real highlight, alongside enhanced Halloween and Christmas celebrations, street cleans, murals and more business support.”

The evening also included a finance update, a report from the marketing team and a presentation from Cheshire East Council on the Royal Arcade. A Q&A session closed the meeting, giving levy payers the chance to share views and ideas directly with the Board.

With year one complete, Crewe BID is moving into a second year of bigger events, stronger promotion and new initiatives to support businesses and give people more reasons to say hello to Crewe.
