Crewe Business Improvement District (BID) attended the official public launch of Crewe’s campaign to become the UK’s first Town of Culture, held at Crewe Market Hall.
The bid, known as Change@Crewe, brings together cultural organisations, community partners, local authorities and businesses to make the case for Crewe as a town with a strong cultural offer and an ambitious vision for the future.
The UK Town of Culture is a new national initiative launched by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The winning town will receive £3 million to deliver a programme of cultural activity, with two further finalists each awarded £250,000 to support delivery in 2028.
For Crewe BID, the bid represents an opportunity to raise the profile of the town, attract visitors and investment, and support increased footfall across Crewe town centre, Nantwich Road and Grand Junction Retail Park. Cultural activity already plays an important role in bringing people into Crewe, supporting local businesses and improving perceptions.
The BID welcomes the collaborative approach behind the bid and the involvement of a wide range of local partners. As the campaign progresses, there will be opportunities for businesses to show their support and get involved in ways that work for them.
Businesses interested in finding out more about the bid or registering their support can contact [email protected].
Crewe BID will continue to share updates as the bid develops.
